Caring for a baby is just one of the many responsibilities of new mothers. While it is a joyous and exciting time to be able to be with your baby, there is still that desire to try and find time for you to accomplish other tasks. One of those big tasks for most mothers is getting back into those pre-maternity clothes as quickly as possible.
But how do you balance caring for your baby and exercising? Surely there are enough hours in the day to do it, but you might not feel like you are able to do it all. The good news is that you do not have to wait until baby is asleep or being cared for by someone else. You can exercise with your baby so you are spending that precious time together and working off any weight you need. Here are some ways to get started on your way to being a fit mom:
Walk it off. Walking or jogging are great ways to work off weight and keep you fit, happy, and healthy. You might find that baby will love it too. Plus, it is very easy to get started on a walking or jogging routine. For either, a jogging stroller is ideal. The larger tires and other features will ensure that baby is comfortable and you do not have to struggle to push the stroller. A front pack is another great item for a more casual paced walker. In this your baby will be snuggled up close to your chest as you walk around. To ensure you do not have to deal with a fussy baby while out and about, make sure that the walk or jog is right before naptime.
Feel the burn. You can stay inside and get a sweat going to. At home DVDs and exercise equipment can get your heart racing and body burning off calories. During naptime you can get in a solid thirty minute exercise and not miss a beat. Mini trampolines are a mom favorite because they take up very little room in the home and they create a great workout.
Have some fun. For older children, like toddlers and older, you can incorporate them into your daily workout. A trip to the park gives you all sorts of options for exercise. Instead of sitting on the sidelines watching, hop in on the action. Chase your little one, play games, climb monkey bars, and more for a great workout with your child. Tag is always a fun game to play at the park.
